2018

The 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition promotes three major values including Green, Nature, and People to build a sustainable, diverse, and happy city of flowers. The Holland/Almere Pavilion (HAP) is contained within Houli Forest Park Area and it adopts "natural coexistence" as the concept of the park. The idea coincided with Almere's development plans in recent years, we therefore hope that Almere's sustainable development ideas can be displayed in the HAP this year.

As we know, Almere city will organize the Floriade Exposition in 2022 and "Growing Green Cities" was selected as the topic of the Exhibition. The HAP will display related information on the 2022 Floriade Exposition and the overall space would not only be used for exhibition but to demonstrate the concepts of circular and green life.

Our proposal incorporates various levels of circular concepts:

1. Building materials recycling (zero excess)
2. Renewable energy use (zero energy)
3. Recycled material utilization (zero waste)
4. Sustainable construction (social value)

In addition to the overall landscape and spatial designs, the exhibition area, activity area, and lounge area is incorporated into the project design and simple catering services are also provided. Recyclable and reusable materials are planned for the main space and they can be recycled or relocated for use after the exhibition. Energy is provided through renewable energy sources and cycled water resources to meet the internal and external functional needs of the space. Natural cooling is also adopted to adjust the ambient temperature in order to design a zero-energy consumption site with landscape value.
